Introducing The Art of Tapestry Weaving with Jessie Mordine Young at Tim Clarke Design. 

Thursday, May 7th at 5:30 - 8:30 PM 

Let’s Weave!

In this 3-hour hands-on workshop, you’ll learn the fundamentals of frame loom weaving—from warping the loom and sketching out a design to practicing essential tapestry techniques. Jessie will be weaving right alongside you, offering guidance and support at every step as you bring your piece to life.

Together, we’ll explore structure, image-building, and materiality. You’ll have the option to work with a variety of fibers and thoughtfully sourced objects—like dried botanicals, shells, stones, and beads—using a process I call tactile collage to create rich, textured work.

By the end of class, you’ll leave with a small wall hanging, or “woven drawing.” All materials are provided, and each student will take home their own Hello Loom so you can continue weaving and experimenting beyond the workshop.

The class will take place at Tim Clarke Design: 2630 Pico BLVD, Santa Monica and is a special event offered in conjunction with signed books of A Woven Year and a new collection of work Jessie has been working on! 

About Jessie Mordine Young: 

• Brooklyn-based textile artist whose practice centers on material exploration, memory, and an intuitive relationship with color and texture.
• Holds an MA from the Bard Graduate Center and a BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago; currently part-time faculty at Parsons School of Design.
• Exhibited internationally and featured in publications including Maake Magazine and Create! Magazine; former resident of Texere Textile Residency and Textilmiðstöð Iceland.
